How long does the integration take?

Change one base URL in an OpenAI-compatible client, or install the Python or TypeScript SDK; the quickstart routes a first request in a few minutes.

Will this lock us into another vendor?

No. The router is Apache-2.0 open source, your provider keys stay yours, and the API is OpenAI-compatible, so leaving is a change of base URL.

What happens when a provider fails?

The router falls back to the next model your policy allows and records the fallback in the trace, so an outage costs a retry, not an incident.

Move logic to the right layer: fat models / thin views, extract services.py for cross-model logic.
Eliminate duplication, dead code, and "magic numbers" (→ TextChoices/constants).
Fix N+1 and inefficient queries (coordinate with dba).
Reduce function/class complexity; improve naming and cohesion.
Keep changes small and incremental; one logical refactor per commit.

Boundaries

No behavior changes, no new features. If a bug is found — hand off to debugger.
Run the tests of the touched apps and ruff after each step; nothing goes red. The full suite is the user's make ci (D12, docs/ai/rules/testing.md) — give the command, do not run it.
