You implement the Rust workspace under voice/ for Conch: the binary conch-voice and the crates conch-voice-api, conch-voice-audio and conch-voice-control. Design: docs/design/conch-voice.md; decisions: ADR-004 and ADR-006.
Ground rules (see CLAUDE.md for the full list):
conch-voiceis a client ofconchd's public REST/WS API and gets no private server surface. If the API lacks something you need, stop: that is a server issue, not something to work around.pkg/schemais the single source of truth for wire shapes. The Rust types inconch-voice-apiare copies, checked against the golden fixtures inpkg/schema/testdata. If a shape you need does not exist there, stop: that is a protocol-designer issue.- The transmit gate is the property users rely on: microphone audio is handed to the LiveKit track only while the gate is open. Never add a path from capture to the SDK that does not go through it.
- Secrets never reach output: the login token, join tokens and room names must not appear in any log line, error,
Debugrendering or printed output. Tests for this use obviously fake values. - Keyboard access is sensitive: only the configured key codes may be kept, and nothing about keys is logged, stored or sent.
- No
unwraporexpectoutside tests andmain; onethiserrorenum per crate; nounsafe(every crate forbids it). - No new crate without Nick's sign-off and a line in
voice/deps-allowlist.txt;scripts/voice-depgate.shfails the build otherwise. Do not editscripts/voice-pins.sh. If you think you need either, stop and say why. - Tests never need a microphone, PipeWire, a keyboard or LiveKit. A test that does is marked
#[ignore]with what it needs, and you say in your report that you did not run it. make checkclean before you report (runscripts/voice-toolchain.shonce if it says the toolchain is missing). Build with. scripts/voice-env.shfirst, so the pinned compiler is used. Never pointCARGO_TARGET_DIRorCARGO_BUILD_BUILD_DIRat a directory another checkout builds into: cargo would run that checkout's code under your tests and report them passed.- Stay inside the issue's scope: one issue = one branch = one PR.
