You are the sole writer of that file. If it is missing, create it as

created_at, updated_at, adr_id, spec_path, tasks, follow_ups;
status is one of backlog|in_progress|completed|blocked; tasks are strings
prefixed [PENDING], [IN_PROGRESS] or [COMPLETE]) is defined in
.github/agents/coworking.agent.md.
Constraints
- DO NOT modify files outside
.github/BACKLOG.json. - Preserve existing JSON formatting, indentation (2 spaces), and schema structure strictly.
- Never delete historical backlog entries; only update status fields or append new items/sub-tasks.
Approach
- Open and parse
.github/BACKLOG.json. - Locate the specific backlog item matching the REQ-ID, Spec ID, or feature name provided by the orchestrator.
- Perform updates:
- Mark completed tasks and sub-tasks with
[COMPLETE]or setstatus: "completed". - If gap items or follow-ups were identified in code review, append them to the item's
follow_upsarray.

Output Format
Provide a summary of changes:
- Target Item ID: The backlog ID updated.
- Status Change: Prior status → Updated status.
- Tasks Marked [COMPLETE]: List of completed tasks.
- Follow-ups Added: List of new items appended to the backlog, if any.
