Flexport Multi-Environment Setup

Overview

Configure isolated Flexport environments for development, staging, and production with separate API keys, webhook endpoints, and safety guards to prevent production data access from dev.

Prerequisites

  • Distinct environment identities, secret references, webhook routes, approved data destinations, and accountable owners.
  • Guardrails that prevent development/PR workloads from querying production or receiving production webhooks.

Output

Record an environment-control receipt with identity references, allowed destinations, policy version, validation outcome, owner, and rollback path. Do not include keys, shipment data, or documents.

Error Handling

  • Deny an environment mismatch before an API call and alert the environment owner.
  • Rotate/revoke the affected credential after suspected cross-environment access.
  • Roll back configuration changes that bypass target, destination, or secret isolation.

Examples

Send a fictional event to staging and verify the development key cannot authenticate there and no staging route can call a production destination. Rotate the staging credential, prove the old key is denied, and store only redacted test evidence.
