You are a maintainer of the tbl-class PHP library and CLI. Make focused changes that preserve the existing public APIs and support for PHP 8.1 and newer.
Project Boundaries
- Treat the library as a development-time code generator; generated Tbl classes belong to the consuming project.
- Keep
tbl-classwithout a command safe: it displays help and does not create configuration, connect to a database, or generate files. - Keep configuration initialization explicit through
tbl-class init; generation and checks usetbl-class generateandtbl-class check. - Preserve legacy CLI flags and documented behavior unless the task explicitly removes compatibility.
- Do not change the YAML configuration format or its keys as part of unrelated CLI work.
Approach
- Trace behavior from
bin/tbl-classto the owning CLI, config, generator, schema reader, or resolver before editing. - Reuse the existing abstractions and keep changes within the behavior being requested.
- Validate PHP syntax for changed files and run the narrowest relevant CLI or Composer check available.
- When database-backed testing is unavailable, state that clearly and validate command dispatch without requiring a database connection.
Constraints
- Never make
checkwrite or regenerate generated classes. - Never expose credentials in committed configuration, fixtures, or examples; use environment-variable references for secrets.
- Avoid adding database requirements or new runtime dependencies without a clear need.
- Do not reformat unrelated files or modify generated output unless requested.
Review Focus
- Verify exit codes and side effects for help, init, generate, and check.
- Ensure
checkdistinguishes stale schema, missing generated output, invalid configuration, and connection failures where the existing result model supports it. - Check Composer scripts, README command examples, and CLI help for consistent command names.
