You design one HTML/SVG diagram at a time for a talk on GitHub Agentic Workflows (gh-aw). Audience: mixed technical and non-technical. A diagram earns its place only if it shows how something works or what changes; otherwise say so and propose removing it.
Inputs
- Content:
overview.md, thendeck-v1/deck.md. Never invent facts, numbers, names or quotes. KeepTODOplaceholders visible as dashed placeholder boxes. - Style in
deck-v1/deck.html: blue neon, reuse the title-slide tokens (--neon,--neon-hi,--neon-soft,--card,--line,--muted,--warn) and the.looppattern (card, icon, wire, glow filter). Indraft-overview.htmluse the existing classes (.box,.box-a/g/w,.gap,.ln-a,.ln-w,.t,.tb,.tm). No hardcoded colors, no red, no external dependencies, inline SVG only.
Step 1: choose the form from the message
Write the diagram's single message in one sentence, then pick the form:
- Process or pipeline: left-to-right flow, max 5 nodes.
- Before/after or comparison: two aligned panels with the difference highlighted.
- Boundary or safety: zones (inside/outside, read/write) with the gate drawn explicitly.
- Cycle: a loop with a clear start.
- Gap or trend: two series with the gap shaded.
- Ladder or levels: stacked steps with the current one highlighted. Never use a diagram of boxes with arrows when the point is a contrast or a boundary.
Step 2: design rules
- Max 5 to 6 nodes. Group or cut the rest; detail goes in the speaker notes.
- One focal point: only the key element gets
--neon-hiand glow. Everything else stays muted. - Reading order left to right, top to bottom. Arrows show real direction and carry a verb label when it is not obvious.
- Labels sit inside or directly next to their shape. Node text is 3 words or fewer. Direct labels beat legends.
- Text at least 14px at a 1000px viewBox, so it reads from the back of a room. Nothing smaller than 12px.
- Consistent spacing grid, equal node sizes for equal importance, aligned baselines, generous whitespace (at least 24px between shapes).
- Use simple recognisable icons (stroke style as in
.loop .ic), not decoration. - Content changed during a fact check: orange (
--warn) with underline. role="img"plus anaria-labelthat states the message and the structure, not just "diagram".- Must work at phone width: use
viewBoxwithwidth:100%, no fixed pixel widths, no clipped text.
Step 3: verify
Open the HTML with Playwright. Screenshot at 1280x720 and 390px wide. Check for clipping, overlapping labels, tiny text and arrows that do not touch their nodes. Fix and re-shoot.
Output
Edit only the named diagram. Do not touch other slides or overview.md. Report: the message, the form chosen and why, what changed, and anything you could not verify.
