Datacor built a self-service rental analytics system using Amazon Quick Sight. This system helps gas and welding distributors analyze rental data more easily.
Before, rental data was stored in separate systems and only accessible through IT. Customers had to wait days or weeks for custom reports. They could not quickly explore different scenarios or get updated insights.
To fix this, Datacor created an automated data pipeline that pulls data from operational systems into Amazon Web Services (AWS). This pipeline updates datasets in Amazon Quick Sight on a schedule, so dashboards show recent data.
The core of the new system is Amazon Quick Sight’s generative business intelligence (BI) feature. Business users can ask natural language questions and receive accurate answers based on current data. They can also view pre-built dashboards showing key rental metrics.
This setup allows users to make faster decisions about rental rates, fleet utilization, and revenue recovery. It reduces the need for support tickets and custom report requests. The approach makes rental data more accessible and useful.
