Research Skill Repository Notes

This repository follows the OpenHands/extensions convention for shareable skills.

Structure

Put reusable skills under skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md.
Add skills/<skill-name>/README.md when human-facing examples help.
Add skills/<skill-name>/.plugin/plugin.json for marketplace clients.
Add .claude-plugin and .codex-plugin symlinks that point to .plugin for Claude and Codex compatibility.
Add slash-command entry points under skills/<skill-name>/commands/ when useful.
Register public skills in marketplaces/research-skills.json.

Skill authoring rules

Keep each skill focused on one research workflow.
Start with a precise definition of when to use the skill.
Prefer operational checklists, decision rules, and concrete examples over abstract advice.
Avoid private paths, secrets, or unpublished raw data.
Use plain hyphens in English prose instead of em dashes.
Keep OpenHands, Claude, and Codex behavior aligned by updating the shared SKILL.md first, then adapting manifests or command wrappers only when necessary.

Install research-skill and it becomes one more candidate the router can pick - when it fits.

A listing is a routing target with a manifest: what it does, which domains it covers, what it costs and who publishes it. Once installed it sits beside your own models and tools, is scored like any other candidate for each request, and shows up in the trace when it wins. Ratings come from workspaces that installed it, one per account.
