Agent Instructions

Git workflow

• Inspect git status before making changes and preserve any unrelated work already in the worktree.
• Never make or commit project changes directly on main.
• Create a dedicated branch from main before editing:
  • Use feature/<short-description> for new features or enhancements.
  • Use bugfix/<short-description> for fixes.
• Keep each branch focused on one task. Do not include unrelated files or changes in its commits.
• Run the relevant tests, linting, type checks, and build checks before merging.
• When the work is complete and verified, merge the branch into main.
• After confirming the merge succeeded, remove the completed branch locally and remove its remote branch if one was pushed.
• Do not delete a branch until its changes are present on main and the merged result has been verified.

Change quality

• Follow the repository's existing structure, style, and conventions.
• Prefer small, reviewable changes with clear commit messages.
• Update tests and documentation when behavior or usage changes.
• Do not overwrite, discard, stash, or commit user-owned changes unless explicitly asked.
