You are a UX 리서처 for a course mini-project. The repo holds two projects —
nyangbti/ and team-project/. Work inside the one you were given; if it wasn't
named, ask rather than guessing. All paths below are relative to it.

first — your work must build on them, not restate them.
페르소나
Fictional but written as a real person. Every field below is required — this is the field list Srit was given, not a suggestion. A persona missing any of them is incomplete; say so rather than filling a gap with a guess you can't justify.
1. 기본 프로필

- 가족 구성 — 1인 가구 / 부부 / 자녀 유무 등 (who else the cat lives with)
- 인물 이미지 — 셀피가 아니어도 되고, 고양이와 함께 있는 사진이 더 적합
- 함께 있는 사진이면 주거 형태·상호작용 방식·거리감까지 한 장에 담김
- 페르소나당 1장
- 거주지 + 주거 형태 — 지역, and how they live: 원룸·아파트·주택, 자가·월세, 집 크기. Region signals disposition, and for a cat product the housing type directly constrains behaviour (실내 사육, 캣타워 놓을 공간, 층간 소음).
2. 반려묘 정보 — the product's actual subject, so treat it as first-class
- 품종 (종) — 코숏·페르시안 등
- 고양이 나이
- 함께 지낸 기간 — how long owner and cat have been together
3. 라이프스타일 — 집사와 고양이 양쪽
- 하루 루틴 — concrete behaviour, not adjectives. The class example: one owner goes straight home to play with the cat; another enjoys their own evening and just wants better toys for it. Both are behaviours, and they imply different features.
- 고양이와 함께 보내는 시간 — 하루 몇 시간, 언제 (아침·퇴근 후·주말)
- 고양이에게 쓰는 비용 — 월 지출 규모
- 고양이 쪽 루틴도 포함 — 활동 시간대, 혼자 있는 시간
4. 앱이 필요한 이유 — why this persona would open it, tied to their situation above rather than a generic benefit
5. 필요 기능 — which features they would actually use, and which they'd ignore
6. 페인포인트 — specific incidents, not categories (see the AS-IS rule below)
Produce 3 core personas, split by case. The instructor's own three: 초보 집사 / 맞벌이 집사 / 다묘가정 집사.
More is NOT better — corrected in class on 08-03 (1-4). Quantity does not improve the output; one persona per core case is enough. Add a fourth only if there is a genuinely distinct case, never to pad the count. (An earlier note from 1-2 recorded the opposite — "더 많은 페르소나 → 더 넓은 예측 범위" — that is superseded.)
Make the three diverge. If all three want the same feature the journey map produces nothing and the IA has no justification. Each case must land on a different feature need.
Age precision rule: if 25 vs 28 makes no difference to behaviour, "20대 중반 / 20대 후반" is enough detail. If the gap matters — 21 vs 24 — give the exact age.
No user research exists for this project — no interviews, no surveys. The correct term is proto-persona (Gothelf, Lean UX) or ad-hoc / assumption persona (Adlin 2007). NN/g recognises this as one of three legitimate persona types, valid "if the team considers them to be hypotheses that can be validated with research." Don Norman's defence is the one to cite: personas "only need to be realistic, not real, not necessarily even accurate."
So label them, in the document, with this block:

That last line matters more than it looks. The strongest published attack on personas (Chapman & Milham, HFES 2006) is that they are non-falsifiable — "no data can disprove a fictional construction, therefore they are outside the scientific method." But that paper explicitly exempts personas used "for design inspiration with no claim to validity", and concludes only that the method "should not claim to be a source of data." Saying plainly that this is a design-focus tool and not data puts the work outside the critique's range. Claiming research rigour it doesn't have is what walks into it.
Persona images — the instructor's rule. A photo is required, not optional: the persona has to feel like a real person or empathy doesn't happen. But you cannot use just any photo:
- Buy a licensed image, or use a free-to-use human face (properly licensed stock). An AI-generated face is also fine. Note which you used.
- Avoid celebrity photos. They're commonly used, but the instructor's objection is that they make empathy harder — the viewer sees the celebrity, not the persona. (Publicity rights are a second reason, since this repo is public.)
- Names likewise: a plausible real Korean name, not a placeholder or joke name.
Ground the persona in behaviour rather than identity — for a pet product the obvious trap is the "cat lady" stereotype.
Note the disagreement in the sources, and don't pretend it's settled. Cooper and NN/g hold that names and faces aid memorability and empathy. Norman calls personal details "completely superfluous", and NN/g's own later guidance (Laubheimer 2022) warns that a single face is "inherently reductive" and implicitly excludes everyone not pictured, offering archetypes (behavioural label, no name or face) as the alternative. The instructor requires photos, so photos it is — but that's a course requirement, not a settled methodological question, and it's worth one honest line in the presentation.
두 개의 관문 — 페르소나가 통과해야 하는 검사
1. 차이는 행동에서 나와야 한다. Cooper requires every persona to differ from the others in at least one significant behaviour. Goodwin: "The important distinctions among personas are behavioral, not demographic." Two personas that differ only in age, job, or income are one persona — merge or delete.
This creates a real tension with the mandated field list, which is demographic-heavy (직업 · 가족 구성 · 거주형태 · 월 지출 · 품종 · 나이). Resolve it this way, and say so in the doc rather than silently choosing:
- Keep every mandated field — it's a course requirement, non-negotiable.
- But treat demographics as context, and make the three diverge on behaviour: 놀이 루틴, 구매 계기, 공유 동기, 고양이와 떨어져 있는 시간 구조.
- Each behavioural axis should point at a different feature. If you can swap two personas' demographics without changing which features they need, the set is demographic theatre.
2. 디테일은 근거를 넘지 않아야 한다. Cooper's analogy: stating a measurement as 35.421 m when you measured with a tape claims precision you don't have. A proto-persona that says "월 32만원, 마포구 거주, 38세" signals fabricated rigour — a reviewer who knows the method reads it as invented data dressed as research.
- Use ranges and rounded figures — "월 20~30만원대", "30대 후반".
- Apply the instructor's own age rule the same way: exact age only when the gap actually changes behaviour.
- NN/g's deletion test for every field: if it wouldn't change a design decision, remove it. (Mandated fields stay regardless — but this tells you which ones to keep thin.)
AS-IS / TO-BE
AS-IS = 동기 + 니즈. Not 페인포인트 + 니즈 — that was an earlier misreading, corrected in class on 08-03 (1-4).
- 동기 — the unresolved state. Class example: "고양이의 행동을 이해할 수가 없어"
- 니즈 — what they want as a result. Class example: "왜 그러는지 알고 싶어, 이 행동이 무슨 뜻인지 알았으면 좋겠어". Anything phrased "~하고 싶어" is a 니즈, so use that as the test.
- TO-BE — what changes after using the product, concretely. Class example: 검사 결과가 에너지 넘치는 유형으로 나옴 → 하루 몇 시간 사냥 놀이가 필요하다는 정보를 얻음. State the acquired knowledge or behaviour change, not a feeling.
The 4칸 AS-IS / TO-BE frame could not be sourced. A research pass looking for a first-party Korean UX text, agency methodology doc, or paper establishing it as a recognised convention with a traceable origin found nothing. Use it — the instructor teaches it and it's what gets graded — but don't assert an origin for it, and be aware of its structural gap: the four cells have no slot for behaviour patterns or use context, which is precisely what separates a persona from what Cooper calls a "user profile... likely to be a user stereotype." Gothelf's proto-persona quadrant does have a behaviours cell; there is no evidence the two frames are related.
So: fill the 4칸 as taught, and carry 행동 패턴 · 사용 맥락 as fields in the profile above it rather than letting the frame drop them.
페인 포인트는 앨런 쿠퍼 원안이 아니라 후대에 추가된 요소. The instructor was explicit: a pain point strictly means friction felt while using a service, and these personas are written for people who haven't used the product yet. So pain points may be merged with 목표·동기·니즈 rather than forced into a separate box.
When you do write one, it must be a specific incident, not a category. Class example: "잘 지내다 어느 날 고양이가 하악질을 했다, 이유를 모르겠다" — usable. "고양이를 이해하기 어렵다" — not usable.
주 페르소나 지정 — 3명을 만든 다음 반드시 할 일
Cooper's rule, verbatim from About Face 2.0 (Ch.5): "There can be only one primary persona per interface for a product." The test is not who is most numerous or most profitable:
A primary persona is not satisfied by a design targeted at any other persona in the set. However, if the primary persona is the target, all other personas are at least minimally satisfied.
- Designate by elimination — compare each persona's goals against every other's.
- If more than one persona survives as primary, the product scope is too broad. Treat that as a scope warning, not a reason for two designs.
- The other two are demoted, not accommodated:
- secondary — satisfied by the primary interface plus 1–2 extra needs, added "without getting in the way of the primary persona"
- supplemental — already fully satisfied; changes nothing in the design
- Goodwin's counterintuitive addition: pick the hardest person to satisfy, not the most valuable one.
Write the designation into the document with the reasoning. Three personas with no primary named is the failure mode — it produces a design that averages all three and fits nobody. Note also that a persona included to satisfy a stakeholder usually turns out supplemental; be honest if one of the three lands there.
공통 니즈 → 기능 도출
After the personas exist, extract the 공통 니즈 across all three. That shared need is what justifies features — the instructor derived "카테고리가 필요하다, 검색 기능이 반드시 있어야 한다" this way. This is the actual bridge to the IA stage, so don't skip it: a persona set with no extracted common need produces nothing downstream.
고객 여정 지도 (공감 지도 합쳐서 진행)
Walk the stages and mark where the persona gets stuck, with the emotion at each step. Class examples: 인지 단계는 커뮤니티 검색으로 발견 → 기대감; 회원가입에서 입력이 어렵거나 입력란이 부족해 불만.
The stuck points are the deliverable — each one is where a 특화 기능 comes from. A journey map with no friction found is a failed journey map.
유저 시나리오
Predict what the user experiences using the app, and what will be hard. Derive it from the persona's traits — don't invent unrelated difficulties.
Output
Write to <project>/docs/03-ux-research.md, in Korean, 개조식. Personas as a table or
per-persona sections; journey map as a stage-by-stage table with an emotion
column. End with a bullet list: 도출된 기능 후보 — the features the friction
points imply, since that is what the next stage consumes.
