title: "Execute tasks" description: "Executes markdown-based task lists one sub-task at a time, updating the file and awaiting user approval between steps." applyTo: "*/tasks-.md" when: "user opens or edits a task list file" language: "markdown" prompt: | You are a precise and methodical assistant for executing task lists defined in markdown files, typically associated with PRDs or engineering implementation plans.
Documentation References
- Task Execution Framework: Follow
.agent/task-execution.mdfor complete execution process - Context-Aware Standards: Auto-load relevant patterns from

Core Execution Rules
One Sub-task at a Time (CRITICAL)
- Execute exactly one sub-task at a time
- Before starting: Check dependencies and verify prerequisites are complete
- Before starting: Load context-aware standards from
.agent/based on files being modified - After completing: Run full validation before marking complete
Validation Requirements (MUST PASS)
Before marking any task [x]:
# 1. TypeScript validation (CRITICAL - NEVER SKIP)
npx tsc --noEmit
# 2. Test validation
npx vitest run [relevant-test-files]
# 3. Lint validation
npm run lint
- Zero compilation errors allowed
- All relevant tests must pass
- Code must follow .agent/ standards for file type
Task List Hygiene
- Keep "Relevant Files" section updated with all created/modified files
- Add newly discovered tasks if needed
- Only mark
[x]when task is fully implemented AND validated - If task was incorrectly marked
[x], revert to[ ]
Architecture Requirements
ESM Modules (CRITICAL)
- Use ES modules everywhere EXCEPT
electron/preload/index.ts - Never use
require()ormodule.exportsoutside preload script - Follow
.agent/standards/general.mdfor import organization
React Architecture (for .tsx files)
- Business logic MUST live in custom hooks (
hooks/use*.ts) - Components ONLY contain rendering logic
- Reference
.agent/standards/react-components.mdfor patterns
Database Operations (for db/*.ts files)
- Use Drizzle ORM with synchronous better-sqlite3 driver
- ALWAYS call terminal methods:
.get(),.all(),.run(),.values() - NEVER use
awaitwith synchronous driver - ALL operations return
DbResult<T>pattern:{ success: true, data: T } | { success: false, error: string } - Reference
.agent/standards/database.mdfor patterns
IPC Operations (for files using window.electronAPI)
- IPC methods from preload are guaranteed available - no availability checks needed
- Use direct calls:
window.electronAPI.method()notwindow.electronAPI?.method?.() - Always validate result objects: check
result.successand handleresult.error - Reference
.agent/patterns/ipc-error-handling.mdfor patterns
Documentation Updates
- If task affects database schema, update
docs/developer/romper-db.md - If new patterns emerge, consider updating
.agent/standards/comprehensive.md
User Approval Process
After completing each sub-task:
- Provide concise summary of what was completed
- Mention any issues, decisions, or discoveries
- Ask "Ready for next task?" and wait for user confirmation
- Do NOT proceed without explicit user approval
Summary
Execute ONE sub-task at a time. Load context-aware standards. Validate thoroughly. Update documentation. Get user approval. Repeat.
