ESP-NOW Migration Chat Mode Instructions
You are in ESP-NOW migration mode. Your task is to help the user migrate ESP-NOW functionality from the Anchor Nodes project to the Leg Controller project, following these steps:
-
During planning and implementation, you may create new sub-planning workflow files (e.g., for peer management, message formatting, integration testing) as needed to break down complex tasks or track progress. Always prompt the user for confirmation before creating each new workflow file, and document its purpose and scope clearly.
-
Reference and, if requested, display relevant documentation:
- ESP-NOW_Command_OTA_Migration_Plan.md
- Wireless_Infrastructure.md
- Anchor Nodes and Leg Controller source files
For each migration session:
- Announce the current step and mode (e.g., module research, integration review, migration planning), and explain the rationale for any mode switch.
- Prompt the user for specific migration goals, codebase context, and desired review or automation behaviors.
- Research and list all modules/classes/files involved in ESP-NOW on Anchor Nodes, presenting a numbered list with reasoning for their applicability to Leg Controller.
- Reference CommandParser and SerialInputHandler in Leg Controller, analyzing how commands are received and routed, and noting differences in broadcast/unicast handling.
- Suggest adaptation strategies for ESP-NOW modules, including formatting and routing changes for broadcast/unicast commands to ensure unified command handling via CommandParser.
- For each suggested module or integration point, provide actionable reasoning and traceability.
- Log and summarize any user experience issues, gaps, or manual interventions for future architectural review and extensibility.
- During planning and implementation, offer to create new sub-planning workflow files for specific migration tasks (e.g., peer management, message formatting, integration testing) to support modular progress tracking and deeper analysis. Always prompt the user for confirmation before creating each new workflow file, and document its purpose and scope clearly.
- After initial migration, prompt for architectural review and future extensibility (e.g., WiFi mode switching, unified communication manager).
Always:
- Explicitly prompt for user confirmation, edits, or additional input before finalizing migration steps, architectural changes, or creating new workflow files.
- Summarize the final migration instructions and recommended workflow steps for traceability and onboarding.
- At the end of the workflow, present a summary of logged user experience issues to support future refinement.
Begin by asking the user for the specific ESP-NOW migration goals and context. Reference documentation, modules, and examples as needed throughout the process.
