Checklist for every PR
Run through all items. Use ✅ / ⚠️ / ❌ to mark each. Skip sections that don't apply (a backend-only PR has no design checks; an ADR-only PR has no test checks).
1. Scope discipline
- Does the PR stay within a single phase? (cross-phase PRs must be split)
- Does the PR do one logical thing? (rename-while-refactoring is two things)
- Are the acceptance criteria from the architect's plan met?
- Are all Open Questions from the plan resolved in the PR description?
2. ADR compliance
For each new or modified file, check if any ADR applies. Common ones:
- ADR-004: does the PR write to
.journaloutsideHledgerClient? (if yes, ❌) - ADR-004: does the PR add a new hledger subprocess call outside
HledgerClient? (if yes, ❌) - ADR-008: does the PR let the LLM "decide" the principle? (if yes, ❌)
- ADR-010: does any installment / parcelamento code emit
~ monthlydeclarations or treat each parcela as a separate expense? (if yes, ❌ — single transaction on purchase date withparcelamento:tag is the only allowed shape) - If the PR introduces a new architectural pattern, was an ADR written for it?
3. Tests
- For every new module/function, there are tests.
- Tests actually test the behavior (not just "it doesn't crash").
-
pytest/vitestoutput pasted in the PR shows everything passing. - Coverage didn't drop significantly.
- Old test files for removed components were deleted (no orphaned test suites).
4. File size and dead code
- Backend files ≤200 lines.
- Frontend components ≤300 lines.
- If exceeded, is there a reason documented?
- No orphaned files left behind after a destructive rebuild (use
grep -rto confirm referenced files are still imported somewhere). - No
V2/Old/Newname suffixes lurking. The project mandates destructive rebuilds without compatibility shims.
5. i18n hygiene (frontend PRs)
- No hardcoded pt-BR (or any natural-language) strings in JSX.
- New strings added to both
pt-BR.jsanden.js. English is the source language. - Keys follow naming convention (
feature.section.element). - Layout holds with both PT and EN copy lengths.
6. Brand and design-system fidelity (frontend PRs)
Brand voice (PRODUCT.md):
- No celebratory copy ("🎉", "Great job!", "You hit your goal!"). The number is the message.
- No consumer-finance-app patterns (emoji-laden "spending insight" cards, gamified savings, urgency theater).
- No hand-holding copy or patronizing empty states. Default to assuming competence.
- No drift back toward the retired warm-brown editorial palette (Fraunces, Inter,
#a0784a-style hex).
Design system (DESIGN.md absolute bans + named rules):
- No
border-left/border-right> 1px as a colored stripe on cards/KPIs/alerts/rows. The active-nav 3×16 inline indicator is the only allowed exception; grandfathered KPI/ErrorBox stripes are not the pattern to copy. - No
box-shadowon cards, KPIs, buttons, or chips. Depth = tonal step + 1px border. - No gradient text (
background-clip: text). - No glassmorphism (
backdrop-filter: blur). - No
#000or#fffin styles or tokens — every neutral carries an indigo tint. - No third font family. Google Sans Flex (display) + Plus Jakarta Sans (body) is the pairing.
- KPI numerals use
letter-spacing: -0.02em(Tight-Number rule). - Uppercase only at 10–11px label/chip with ≥0.05em tracking (Quiet-Caps rule).
- Indigo Anchor + Violet Signal cover ≤10% of any screen (One Voice rule).
- Color carries semantic meaning, paired with shape/label/position (Honest Color rule).
- Tokens used instead of literal hex; new tokens have a DESIGN.md justification.
7. UX patterns (frontend PRs)
- No modals. Zero
position: fixedoverlays used as modal surfaces. Login is the only sanctioned modal-like surface. - Drill-downs use inline expansion pattern.
- Loading numbers render as
···, not0or skeleton. -
prefers-reduced-motionrespected.
8. Visual verification (frontend PRs)
- Screenshots in PR description for both dark and light modes.
- Screenshots at desktop (1280px) and mobile (375px).
- If sandbox prevented capture, the PR explicitly says so — no silent skip.
9. Git hygiene
- Commit message format:
[Phase X / PR-Y] type: description. - No commits with
.envor secrets. - Logical changes aren't bundled with unrelated changes.
10. Code quality (spot check)
- No obvious code smells (huge functions, deeply nested code, dead code).
- No
TODOorFIXMEleft without an issue link. - Variable names are descriptive.
- No premature abstractions or "future-proof" hooks/utilities not used by this PR.

## Review — PR-X
**Verdict:** ✅ Approve / ⚠️ Approve with changes / ❌ Request changes
### Passing
- ✅ <item>
### Concerns (non-blocking)
- ⚠️ <item> — <suggestion>
### Blockers (must fix before merge)
- ❌ <item> — <reason, with ADR number or DESIGN.md rule name if applicable>
### Summary
<one paragraph: is this PR well-scoped, on-phase, on-brand, and doesn't violate any decision?>
Rules
- Do not approve PRs with blockers.
- Do not write code. Suggest fixes in prose.
- When in doubt about an ADR, cite the exact ADR number and quote the relevant line.
- When citing DESIGN.md, name the rule (e.g. "violates Tonal-Depth", "violates Honest Color", "violates the side-stripe ban") so the implementer can find the rationale fast.
- If the PR is well-scoped but small, a short review is fine. No performative thoroughness.
- Brand and design-system violations are blockers, not nits. The project's value comes from being honest and quiet — a single celebratory toast or shadowed card erodes that.
