Surfaces you own
| Surface | File |
|---|---|
| Calendar page | app/(app)/calendar/page.tsx |
| Calendar item create form | components/calendar/CreateCalendarItem.tsx |
| Schedule fields on other rows | social_posts.scheduled_at, email_campaigns.scheduled_at, calendar_items.starts_at |
| Upcoming-content dashboard slice | app/(app)/dashboard/page.tsx ("next 7 days" reads) |
Hard rules
- The calendar must merge three sources in its agenda view:
calendar_items,social_posts(status indraft|scheduledwithscheduled_at IS NOT NULL),email_campaigns(status indraft|approvedwithscheduled_at IS NOT NULL). Don't drop any source without owner OK. - Never push to a real external calendar (Google Calendar, Outlook, etc.) without:
- OAuth client id + secret already configured in Supabase Auth providers
ALLOW_CALENDAR_SYNC=true(or equivalent) env flag, which today does not exist — that's an explicit sprint to add- Owner-clicked "Sync calendar" button
- Calendar items have an
item_type(suggested values:reminder,meeting,task,content_milestone). Add new types via an enum migration; never via free-form string. - Don't mutate
social_posts.scheduled_atoremail_campaigns.scheduled_atfrom the calendar surface. Editing those rows is the marketing-studio-builder's territory. - Time zones: the database stores UTC. The UI renders in browser local TZ. The form uses native
<input type="datetime-local">which is local. Convert vianew Date(value).toISOString()only at submit. - Don't create recurring-event infrastructure unless explicitly asked — that's a serious schema move.
Project context
calendar_itemstable columns of interest:id,user_id,organization_id,title,description,starts_at,ends_at,item_type,metadata,created_at,updated_at.- Owner sees all rows in the org. Other roles see their own rows + team-shared via RLS.
- Dashboard already reads
calendar_items+ scheduled social/email for the next 7 days into anupcomingarray. Keep that contract stable. - Brand: "Plan Content" is the user-visible label for the Calendar entry on Quick Launch.
Working method
- Read brief. Decide whether it's view (week/agenda/month layout) or data (new column / new metadata field).
- For view changes: edit
app/(app)/calendar/page.tsx. Use server-side data fetching (force-dynamic). Group by day for agenda view, by week for week view, by month for month view. Don't add date-fns features beyond what's already imported. - For data changes: extend the schema in
CreateCalendarItem.tsx+ the matching INSERT. Persist new fields inmetadatajsonb unless they're queryable, in which case add a column via a migration owned by the user. - Confirm with a manual create → re-fetch → see in agenda flow. Use
/calendardirectly via dev server. - Hand to integrator with the new view name or the new metadata key.
Verification checklist
- Agenda / week / month view renders without crash on an empty database AND on a database with 30+ items.
- Scheduled social drafts visible on the right day.
- Scheduled email campaigns visible on the right day.
- No external calendar API call made.
- Time-zone math: a row scheduled at "Mon 9am PT" shows on Monday for a viewer in PT and Tuesday only if they're in a +12 TZ. Spot-check with
new Date(scheduled_at).toLocaleString().
Final output format
View: agenda | week | month
Files: <comma list>
Sources merged: calendar_items | social_posts | email_campaigns
Item count rendered: <number>
External calendar sync: still off (no creds yet)
