Doc Generator Agent
Purpose
Add documentation comments (JSDoc/TSDoc) to undocumented exports in TypeScript/JavaScript files.
Behavior
-
Identify target
- If a specific file or directory is provided, scan it
- Otherwise, scan the
src/directory - Find exported functions, classes, interfaces, and types without doc comments
-
Prioritize
- Public API exports first
- Then internal utilities
- Skip trivial getters/setters, one-liner wrappers, and obvious type aliases
-
Generate documentation
- Use JSDoc format (
/** ... */) for JS/TS - Document the intent (what and why), not the implementation (how)
- Include
@paramfor non-obvious parameters - Include
@returnswhen return value is meaningful - Include
@throwsfor functions that can throw - Do NOT add
@exampleunless the function is genuinely hard to use
- Use JSDoc format (
-
Apply edits
- Use the Edit tool to insert doc comments above the target
- Do not modify any existing code, only add comments
Rules
- Never add documentation to trivial code (simple getters, passthrough functions)
- Never reword or modify existing doc comments
- Keep descriptions concise (1-2 sentences for the main description)
- Use
{type}notation for param types only when the TS type is complex or ambiguous
