Audit Phases
Phase 1 — Environment Setup
- Verify site reachability (HTTP 200 response)
- Install Python dependencies if needed:
pip3 install requests beautifulsoup4 lxml extruct tqdm pandas --break-system-packages -q - Create output directory
Phase 2 — URL Discovery
Use /crawl-site to discover and build the URL inventory, or accept an existing
crawl CSV if the user provides one.
Phase 3 — SEO Crawl
Use /seo-audit to crawl all discovered URLs and collect:
- Title tags, meta descriptions, H1/H2/H3 counts
- Canonical URLs and conflicts
- Meta robots and X-Robots-Tag directives
- HTTP status codes and redirect chains
- Image alt text coverage
- Internal/external link counts
- OpenGraph and Twitter Card presence
- Schema.org types
Phase 4 — GEO Audit (if --geo flag)
- Extract structured data with
extruct - Check entity coverage (Organization, Person, Article, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList)
- Analyze robots.txt for AI bot rules (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot)
- Check llms.txt presence and quality
- Evaluate E-E-A-T signals
Phase 5 — Crawl Budget Analysis
- Quantify URL patterns wasting crawl budget
- Review robots.txt completeness
- Assess sitemap hygiene
Phase 6 — Findability Analysis
- Build internal link graph (sampled)
- Identify orphan pages
- Calculate click depth from homepage
- Assess breadcrumb coverage
Phase 7 — Report Generation
Generate markdown reports and (if --pptx) a PowerPoint deck via /audit-pptx.

Severity Classification
All findings must use exactly these labels (consistent across reports and CSVs):
- Critical — blocks indexing, crawling, or has immediate ranking/visibility impact
- High — significant negative SEO impact requiring prompt remediation
- Medium — optimization opportunity with measurable improvement potential
- Low — best-practice refinement with minor benefit
CMS-Specific Guidance
Drupal
- Metatag module controls title/description/OG — check token configuration
- Simple XML Sitemap / xmlsitemap module — check entity inclusion settings
- Pathauto controls URL aliases — check for stop words, length, patterns
- Redirect module for 301s — check for chains and loops
- Schema.org Metatag module — check type configuration per content type
WordPress
- Yoast SEO / RankMath — check template configuration and fallbacks
- Yoast Sitemap vs Google XML Sitemaps — check post type inclusion
- Permalink settings — check structure for SEO-friendliness
Contentstack
- URL slugs defined per content type entry; verify slug field is populated and unique
- Sitemap generated via custom Next.js route or Contentstack Webhooks + rebuild
- JSON RTE fields render server-side; ensure heading tags are semantic
- Locale codes normalized to
en-usformat; verify hreflang tags match - No built-in redirect management; redirects stored as a Redirect content type
- Structured data injected via frontend; audit JSON-LD in
<head>per entry type
Contentful
- URL path not a native field; usually in a
slugSymbol field — verify uniqueness - Sitemap requires custom generation (Next.js, Gatsby, or Contentful webhook)
- Rich text
embedded-entry-blocknodes affect heading hierarchy; audit heading nesting - Locale variants accessible via
Accept-Language; hreflang must be manually implemented - Robots.txt and redirects managed by the frontend layer, not Contentful
Kontent.ai
- URL slug element must be configured per content type; validate
url_slugelement values - Sitemap requires external generation; no built-in sitemap module
- Language variant publication states affect canonical URL availability
- Locale codes use IETF format; normalize before setting hreflang
Storyblok
full_slugis the URL; verify no duplicate slugs across Stories- Sitemap generation via Next.js
sitemap.xmlroute pulling all storyfull_slugvalues - Richtext field with embedded bloks can produce unexpected heading hierarchy
field_leveli18n creates{field}__i18n__{locale}keys; verify all locales are published- Visual editor preview URLs may leak into Google Search Console if Preview API key is exposed
Sanity
- No native URL slug management;
slug.currentfield per document type - Sitemap via Next.js data fetching from Content Lake; verify
_typefilter coverage - Portable Text headings serialize as
style: "h2"etc.; audit hierarchy - No built-in redirect management; implement as a Redirect document type in Content Lake
- GROQ queries in
getStaticPathsaffect which URLs are indexed; verify completeness
Amplience
- No native URL management; slugs managed in frontend routing
- Sitemap requires custom generation from content item list
- Dynamic Content item IDs are not human-readable URLs
- Localized string fields use
{values: [{locale, value}]}structure; verify all locales exported
Webflow
slugfield in Collections is the URL; verify uniqueness and SEO-friendly format- Built-in sitemap generation (
/sitemap.xml) — verify collection inclusion settings - Collection List elements affect crawl depth; ensure all items are linked
- No native redirect management; 301s must be set in Webflow site settings (limited)
- OpenGraph and Twitter meta settable per collection item via CMS field binding
Strapi
- URL slug must be implemented as a
uidfield; verify uniqueness enforcement - Sitemap via
strapi-plugin-sitemapcontrib plugin or custom generation - Rich Text (Markdown) requires parsing to extract heading hierarchy for audit
- i18n plugin locale variants require explicit URL path strategy per locale
robots.txtserved by the frontend layer
Umbraco
- URL derived from content tree path (Umbraco routing) or custom URL property
- Built-in sitemap via
UmbracoSiteMapXmlor Umbraco SEO Checker module Textstringfields map to<title>; verify template token configuration- Block List Editor HTML must be audited for heading hierarchy and alt text
